Ok: here's my position.
I don't even understand how anyone can do their job without knowing broadly where to check their code in.
Quite how a team imagines it is going release and maintain product without some kind of vision of what, where, when and how is almost beyond me.
Though of course it does "get done" in the end...
But I digesss: the point is to discuss the objection of knowing which branch is the important one.
Well, I can't tell you; however the team does need to know one way or the other.
Subversion can't tell you, so don't blame it.
